PRE-QUALIFICATION TENDER
FOR THE TRANSPORTATION, WAREHOUSING AND SHIPPING OF
COTTON LINT TO FOB SOUTH AFRICAN PORT
Pre-qualification tenders are invited for the provision of a full logistics chain from all
Cottco depots to FOB South African port. Tenders are therefore invited from services
providers who meet the minimum requirements for the provision of one seamless service
to cover transport, warehousing and shipping of cotton from our nine depots to FOB
South African port.
To qualify for this tender, bidders must demonstrate and provide the following:
- Proven and well documented capacity to manage the whole logistics chain
from depot to FOB South African port within contracted shipment period.
- Ownership and or capacity to arrange a long lease agreement for suitable
warehousing space of at least 2,500 square metres at any particular point in
time.
- Familiarity of ZIMRA and SARS formalities to conduct export/import
business.
- Proven financial capacity to disburse port costs and rail /road transport to
Transnet group companies and other third parties. Reimbursement of such
costs will be made 30 days after completion of a shipment.
- Capacity to conduct customs clearance procedures on the Zimbabwean border
into a bonded warehouse in South Africa as well as the preparation of export
documentation for FOB shipments.
- Ability to raise a bank guarantee of US$2 million to cover shipping costs
charged by Transnet and other third parties. The same guarantee will also
cover the value of the lint stock in the service provider’s custody.
Tender documents for the provision of the logistics service shall be availed to those
service providers who would have pre-qualified.
The tenders clearly marked TENDER NUMBER COTTCO 01/05/10 must be deposited
into the Tender Box situated at Cottco Head Office reception or must be posted in time to
reach the Corporate Services Executive on or before 2.30pm on Monday 24 May 2010.
